Founded in 2018 by Matthew Lloyd, Pretty Normal Productions have a simple aim: to empower brands to tell stories using online video.
Every brand has a story to tell, and online video is crucial to telling those stories, upping engagement, and creating a connection with your customers.
We believe that telling effective stories isn't necessarily about working with a flashy agency, or having the biggest budget- it's about being thoughtful, smart, agile and adaptable.
Where We're From
After starting his career in factual television nearly a decade ago, Matthew has worked on a variety of shows which have become household names, such as shooting on BBC's Escape to the Country and Great British Railway Journeys. He's since gone on to originate new programmes and produced formats for some of the UK's biggest broadcasters, including the BBC, ITV and Channel 4.
Whilst working in numerous development teams, Matthew saw an opportunity to move away from broadcast television, and into the branded content space, where he could take his skills for shooting and editing, combined with a well-honed ability to pitch and originate new ideas and add real value to brands looking to tell stories of their own.
We believe that story is king, and we can cover every part of the production process in-house, from initial brainstorms to final delivery. We work with budgets big and small, and we don't depend on agencies for ideas or guidance, which allows us to be far more agile, and deliver more value to the client.
A Better Way
You may have noticed recently that the media industry doesn't exactly have a reputation for being inclusive, accessible, or accountable. This is despite the fact that the creative industries in the UK are a source of consistent growth and are absolutely critical to GDP. We believe that the long term growth of the sector hinges on making opportunity accessible to all.
Matthew wanted to create a way of working with brands to tell stories, while at the same time opening up opportunities for people from all backgrounds to gain skills and experience that would help them expand their horizons.
As of the first quarter of 2020 we will be working to deliver free-to-access workshops aimed at young people from a diverse range of backgrounds, under our 'Change The Story' initiative. A single workshop will take place for each video commission we receive.
